I am in the business of Jesus. It’s as simple as that. I’ve been called to write & speak & teach about Jesus. When I drop my kids off at school, I go home & work & that work usually revolves around my Savior.
I can’t quit because I can’t deny what the Lord has laid on my heart to do. I can’t deny the passion I have for His truth, His word, or His power. I’m all in, all the time, no matter how annoyed, defeated, angry, or discouraged I am.
But…..so are you.
You may not be in the “business” of Jesus, but you have a charge & a mission as a believer. Matthew 28:19-20 is that mission – that business – that charge to all of us:
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
You can’t quit God. You know His truth in your heart. You know His power. You may have days when you aren’t your best & you may not understand His plan, but don’t let one day or one season in life push you out of the business.
I would be lying if I said I don’t ever want to throw in the towel, I would be lying if I said I never want to say, “I quit this calling,” or, “I quit You because I am not getting what I want,” or, “This would be so much easier if I didn’t sit under this weight all of the time knowing He has a plan & I don’t know what it is.”
The hardest thing we will ever have to do in life is surrender, give over control, follow His lead, & just have faith, trusting that He is good & it will all work out. That is not easy – not even a little! To honestly & fully give into that, is against every single thing we are, going back to creation. However, it is also exactly who we were created to be, and is much easier than bearing the weight of our world on our own.
I don’t want to encourage people everyday, sometimes I just want to complain & whine & quit. But when I think about the truth of being a believer, remembering the truth in His word, I have nothing left but the reality that He is who He says He is & He is in control.
Lord, I pray for our hearts. I pray as we read these words that You speak truth into us. I pray that we clearly see what & who you are: the great I AM. Our ever-present help in time of need, Who was & is & is to come. God, Father, and Savior, I pray our hearts & minds align with the truth You have given us. I pray for peace in times of turmoil, clarity in times of confusion, truth in times when all we hear are lies of the enemy. I pray we see You. Through all else, help us see You. Amen.
